Carsington Water is located some five miles to the North East of Ashbourne,

and is a pumped water storage facility from the river Derwent

via an underground tunnel.

There are footpaths and cycle paths round the reservoir

from which these views were taken.

This South view is from the Northernmost point of the reservoir,

showing one of the conservation areas.

The East view was taken opposite the Village of Carsington,

from which the reservoir takes its name.

Whilst the South East view from farther down, shows the inlet tower

in the distance.

This North view was taken from the Millhouse car park at the Eastern end

of the reservoir wall.

Whilst the North East view showing the inlet tower and the mile long footpath

along the reservoir wall towards the Sailing Club and Visitors centre.

The foot and cycle paths round the reservoir are about 8.5 miles long.

They pass from the Visitors centre North to the Sheepwash car park, and on

through the village of Carsington before turning South down to Millhouse car park.

The final part is across the reservoir embankment, past the Sailing Club before

ending at the Visitors centre.
